Oakland Park Hosts Largest Oktoberfest Event In Broward and Dade!

Every year, the city of Oakland Park, Florida hosts the largest Oktoberfest event in the Broward and Dade county area. This year, Oakland Park's Oktoberfest will be held September 30th and October 1st. The event location is Jaco Pastorius Park, 4000 North Dixie Highway, Downtown Oakland Park, between Oakland Park and Commercial Boulevards, just north of the NE 38 Street signal.

7:30pm Event #1 – Beer Stein Race – Contestants race a short distance to the
finish line with two fists full of filled beer steins. The winner is
determined not only by the best time, but by the amount of beer left in the
steins at the finish line. ( A second is added to the time for each ounce of
beer spilled.)

8:30pm Event #2 – Apple Strudel Eating Contest – Contestants will compete in a
timed eating contest

9:30pm Event #3 - Musical Chairs Polka – The old favorite takes on a new
twist…Polka music!

Saturday, October 1

4:00pm Event #1 – Dachsund Race sponsored by Central Bark Doggy Day Care-
Cheer on your favorite wiener dog as it dashes across the finish line for
bragging rights as the speediest dog of Oktoberfest 2011!

5:30pm Event #2 – Beer Barrel Roll – Participants roll an empty beer barrel
around a course. The contestant with the fastest time wins but points are
deducted for losing control of your barrel and mowing down spectators.

6:30pm Event #3 – Beer Stein Race – Contestants race a short distance to the
